Obituary
The following obituary is taken from the Bertrand Independent Herald as deceased was born in this county and was a daughter of the late John Cramer, a former resident of Putnam County who still has many relatives and friends here to whom it will be of interest and who will deeply regret to learn of her death. Lula May Cramer was born in the state of Illinois, February 5, 1872. Passed away at her home near Smithville, Nebraska, July 26, 1920 at the age of 48 years, 5 months and 28 days. In her girlhood, she moved with her parents to Gosper County, Nebraska where she resided until her death. April 13, 1890, she was united in marriage to Anderson Coy at the old homeplace. To this union, 5 children were born all of whom are living. Ethel Pearl Coy, Clarence Lincoln Coy, Berniece May Junkin, Forrest Wayne Coy, Verna Pauline Coy. She was united with the Methodist Church at Smithville in the winter of 1900 and was a faithful member. She was a kind loving wife and mother, it being her one great joy to be true to her home and family. For many months she was gradually failing in health and was a constant sufferer. She bore it all with patience and when the end came, she passed peacefully into the great beyond leaving behind her a loving husband, five children, a mother, brother, sister, and two grandchildren, besides a host of friends. All was done that loving hands could do, but the Lord knows best and now she is at home with him. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church, Smithville, Wednesday afternoon, July 28, with one of largest crowds ever gathered at the church. She was a friend to all and will be greatly missed in the church and community. Internment was in the Bertrand cemetery.
