(2 - ILL). Near by is Philip's future wife, Harriet Hoeage (sic) (1 - ILL) with her parents William (26- ILL) and Hetta A. (23- TN) Hoeage.

The 1860 Federal Census for Corydon, Wayne Co., Iowa, page 393 records Philip H. Brock (17 - Indiana) with his father George Brock (33 - KY) and his new wife Barbara S. G. (23 - NY) and siblings John W. (14 - ILL), Mary J. (11 - Iowa), Harriet A. (7 - Iowa), Eva P. (7 - Iowa), and David A. (2 - Iowa). George's first wife, Harriet probably died in child birth ca 1853.

The 1870 Federal Census for Corydon, Wayne Co., Iowa, page 278B records Philip H. Brock (26 - Indiana) with his wife Harriet (20 - Indiana) and children Ida M. (2 - Iowa) and Laura E. (5/12 - Iowa). Next door is George Brock (45 - Indiana) and his wife Barbara (33 - NC) and children David (13 - Iowa), Elizabeth (11 - Iowa), Abraham (9 - Iowa), Emma (7 - Iowa), and Thomas (1 - Iowa).

The 1880 Federal Census for Washington, Wayne Co., Iowa, District 238 records Philip H. Brock (37 - Indiana/-/-) with his wife Hariet (32 - Indiana/Indiana/Indiana) and children Ida M. (12 - Iowa), Laura E. (10 - Iowa), George W. (7 - Iowa), Frederick G. (5 - Iowa), Annie E. (2 - Iowa), and Melvina K. (2/12 - Iowa).

The 1890 Veterans Schedules for Merna, Custer, Co., Nebraska records Philip H. Brock as serving as a private in Co. D, of the 23rd Iowa Infantry from July 26, 1862 to July 26, 1865.

The 1910 Federal Census for Kilfoil, Custer Co., Nebraska, District 82, page 182A records Philip H. Brock (66 - Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio) with his wife Harriet (61 - Illinois/Indiana/Tennessee) and sons William (35 - Iowa), Jacob (24 - Iowa), and Samuel ( 21 - Nebraska). Philip and Harriet have been married for 43 years and have had 8 children of which 6 are still living.

This is a public cemetery and is accessible from the road. Take highway 70/92 and go 1 mile west of Merna, Custer County, Nebraska, then turn and go north for ½ mile:
