General Notes:
The 1940 Federal Census for Broken Bow, Custer Co., Nebraska, District 21-10, page 88B, dated April 5, 1940 records the widow Ida M. Cramer (71 - Iowa) renting a place on 5th Street at $4 / month near the intersection with South C & South D Streets.
In trying to find Ida's family I have researched the following: The Nebraska State Census records on 19 Jun 1885 in Victora Township, Custer Co., Nebraska (ED#170, page 6) Ida Tolley [additional research indicates that this family is actually Filley ... additional research proves this to be the wrong family ... the correct one is Ida May Brock ... see notes on her husband, David Creamer] Age: 17 Birth Place: Iowa LOCATION: Victora Township,Custer,Nebraska Date: 19 Jun 1885 Enumerator: George E. Carr Enumeration District: 170 Page: 6 Race: White Locality: Midway Borough also in the household is L Tolley 32 (Michigan) Ellen Tolley 33 (Kentucky) Funey Tolley 17 (Iowa) Eia Tolley 12 (Iowa) Abbie Tolley 3 (Kansas) and Peter Tolley 2 (Nebraska)
The mom, Ellen, is Mary Ellen who was married before being married to Lewis Filley. The 1910 census indicates a 2nd marriage for both ca 1871 ... after the birth of Ida. The 1910 Federal Census for Victoria, Custer Co., Nebraska, District 86 records Lewis (76 - Michigan/Michigan/Michigan) and Mary E. (56 - KY/KY/KY) Filley. They have been married for 39 years, 2nd marriage for each, and have had 8 children of which 4 are still living. Nearby is their son Peter A. Filley (26 - Iowa) and his wife and family.
The 1900 Federal Census for Hayes, Custer Co., Nebraska, District 59 records. Louis (Jan 1833 - Michigan/Unk/Conneticutt) and Ellen (Sept 1850 - Iowa/Indiana/Texas) Filley with children Peter A. (June 1882), Frank (May 1888), and Ellen (Dec 1891). They have been married for 26 years and have had 8 children of which 6 are still living.
By 1920, Ida has died and Lewis has moved to Idaho to be with his son, Peter, and married daughter, Ellen: The 1920 Federal Census for Tamarack, Adams Co., Idaho, District 1 records the widower Lewis Filley (Michigan/New York/Connecticutt) living with his daughter, B. E. [Ellen Filley] Schow (28 - Nebraska/Michigan/Missouri) and her husband, G. A. Schow (35 - Indiana/Missouri/Ohio). G. A. is a logger in a sawmill. Nearby is Peter Filley (36 - Kansas/Michigan/Connecticutt) with his wife, Minnie (33 - Idaho/Iowa/Kansas) and children Edward (14 - Idaho), Oliver (12 - Idaho), George (9 - Oregon), Lewis (7 - Nebraska), and daughter Verl (11/12 - Nebraska). Peter is an engineer in a sawmill.
All the above appears to be a lost path in that I came across the fact that David and Ida moved back to Nebrsaka after 1920 ... David dies in Merna, Nebraska and is buried at Kilfoil Cemetery, Merna, Custer County, Nebraska ... see notes on David Cramer.
