In an article in the on Feb 8, 1999:
From the time she used a toy drill on teeth made of Play\endash Doh, Wendy Moore has wanted to be a dentist.
As a girl growing up in King George County, she never dreaded going to the dentist's office. She wanted to learn as much as she could about high-speed drills and adjustable chairs.
...
Moore has been an associate of Dr. Richard Hylton since August, and the two work in the Chandler house, a historic home that dates back to the Revolutionary War.
Hylton grew up in the house across the street, and he's been a dentist since 1969.
He started looking for help after a stroke in 1995, and he's particular about who shares his practice. Moore is his third associate in four years.
The patients must be happy turning their molars over to her; if they weren't, the staff surely would have heard about it.
When one of Hylton's previous associates didn't have the right chair-side manner, people voiced their complaints in the grocery store, after church and at community get-togethers.
That hasn't been the case with Moore. At a recent party, a patient walked up to dental assistant Vickie Cecil and offered his take on the new dentist in town.
"He put his arm around my shoulder and said, 'I like that girl.'"

Dick was born in Richmond on Feb. 15, 1940, to Clarence "Tony" and Mary Day Hylton. He grew up in the town of Bowling Green and graduated from Caroline High School in 1957. After graduation, he attended the University of Richmond where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He continued his education at the Medical College of Virginia where he attended dental school and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. After completing dental school, he served two years in the United States Air Force and then returned to Bowling Green where he practiced dentistry for more than 40 years. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Lisa and Dave Sinz of Hershey, Pa., and Rick and Sarah Hylton of Gloucester; and his grandchildren, Claire, Caroline and Kate Sinz, and Abby, Ben and Gibson Hylton.
Dick was a deeply intelligent man who loved nothing better than a good debate. He enjoyed spending time on the water and was an avid duck hunter.
We will remember him for the mischievous twinkle in his eye when he sensed he had caught someone taking an illogical stance, the wholehearted passion with which he approached any endeavor and his loyalty to his family.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, in St. Asaph's Episcopal Church in Bowling Green, with burial to follow in Lakewood Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family at church for a reception, following the interment.
