Barry Burl Seckler, 61, was called home to be with Jesus at his residence Saturday (December 27, 2008) after a brief battle with cancer.

He was deeply loved and be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his mother Espie Johnson Seckler; his father, William Derwood Seckler; two sisters, Lucy Seckler and Sandra Hawkins.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years Deborah Seckler; his children, Lesley "Brooke" Seckler, Tyler Seckler and Jackie Gilman; his grandchildren, Corieon and Corbian Seckler, Jadah Compton, Jayla Gilman, Jonathon McGalla, Shawn and Hunter Gilman, and Xavier Seckler; his sisters, Meg Taylor and husband Billy, Patty and Jeff Collins, Susan and Willis Crum, Barbara Mills; brothers, Dale Seckler, and Jack Seckler; several nieces and nephews; a very special mother-in-law, Pearline Meade.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday December 29, 2008 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1444 Bloomingdale Road, Kingsport, TN. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. in the church with Dr. Cecil Sturgill officiating.

At Barry's request his body was donated to medical science.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road, Suite 102, Johnson City, Tennessee, 37601.
