Also in the household are Bernice A. Rutledge (48 - VA) and her sister Sally W. Rutledge (53 - VA). Lucille is employed as a Stenographer for the Steam Rail Road earning $1,494 working 44 weeks during the last year while Sally is employed as a Saleswoman for a Retail Milnery (sic) earning $588 working 49 weeks during the last year. Note: Sally and Bernice are Lucille's mother's sisters.

Obituary for Lucille Josephine Akers: Lucille Josephine Akers of Roanoke, died Friday, October 4, 1996. Miss Akers was retired from the N & W Railway with over 45 years of service. She was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving are a niece, Mrs. Sandra Akers Ivey, Pine Knoll Shores, N.C.; two great nephews, Jeffrey D. Hagen, Charleston, S.C., Matthew R. Hagen of Morehead City, N.C.; also a number of cousins, including Mrs. Frances Jo Harkins, Merritt Island, Fla. Services will be at the graveside in Fairview Cemetery, 10 a.m. Monday. Dr. Harry Y. Gamble will officiate. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel from 10 a.m. Sunday, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
