According to The Virginia Regimental Histories Series, 41st Virginia Infantry, Edwin H. Young was born in Otsego Co., NY in 1842 and moved to Virginia in 1852. The Otsego Co. reference is most likely an error that crept into this publication due to the fact that his wife was born in Otsego Co., NY.

The 1880 Federal Census for Namozine, Dinwiddie Co., VA, District 83, page 180B, dated June 15, 1880 records Edwyn (35) and Hellen (27) Young with their son Oswell Young (1). Also in the household is nephew Chatum Sydnor (11), son of his deceased sister, Sarah J. Young Sydnor.

The 1900 Federal Census for Namozine, Dinwiddie Co., VA, District 21, page 125B, dated June 25, 1900 records Edwyn H. (Oct 1842) and Helen E. (Aug 1849 - NY/NY/NY) Young with their children Oswelle E. Young (Jan 1879), Roscoe H. (Jan 1881), Washington A. (Oct 1882), Julian L. (May 1884), Francelin A. (Dec 1885), and Opal C. (July 1890). Edwyn and Helen have been married for 26 years and have had 12 children of whom 6 are still living.

The 1910 Federal Census for Namozine, Dinwiddie Co., VA, District 23, page 44A, dated April 19, 1910 records the widow Helen E. Young (60 - VA/VA/NY) with children Roscoe H. Young (28), Washington Young (26), Francelia A. Young (23), and Opal C. Young (18). Also in the household are Washington's wife of 4 years, Lizzie Young (24) and their son, Edwin H. (1/2) and Roscoe's wife Rosa A. Young (23) married 0 years.

The 1920 Federal Census for Namozine, Dinwiddie Co., VA, District 20, page 120B, dated January 28, 1920 records the widow Helen Young (70 - VA/VA/VA) with her daughter Opal Young (29 - VA) farming along Vaughan Road.

Sadler: The 1930 Federal Census for Namozine, Dinwiddie Co., VA, District 3, page 41B, dated April 18, 1930 records Francelia (45 - VA/VA/NY) and her husband Charles W. Sadler (57 - VA/VA/VA) with their children Thelma (13), Helena (9), and Franklin (5). Francelia was first married at age 30 while Charles at age 16 ... thus this is the 2nd marriage for Charles.

The 1930 Federal Census for Namozine, Dinwiddie Co., VA, District 3, page 41B, dated April 18, 1930 records Francelia (53 - VA) and her husband Charles W. Sadler (67 - VA/VA/VA) with their children Helen R. (19) and William F. (15).

Edwin married Helen Elvira Armstrong, daughter of Ashbel Armstrong and Amy, on 8 Jul 1874 in Petersburg, Dinwiddie Co., Virginia. (Helen Elvira Armstrong was born in Aug 1849 in Otsego Co., New York and died on 9 Apr 1931 in Dinwiddie Co., Virginia.) The cause of her death was General Paralysis / Cerebral hemorrhage.
