  General Notes:

The 1900 census records her birth date as Sept 1850, however, a genweb site by Ruthann Dunagan records 29 Nov 1849.
Observation: The 1860 Federal Census for Currituck Co., NC records 2 Alice Cox individuals, 1 is 10 the other is 9. The 9 years old is listed alone and the 10 years old has parents William and Elizabeth Cox and a brother by the name of Alpheus Cox. The brother's name, Alpheus is unusal and is later used as a family name (Ernest Alpheus Pritchard). The Nov birth date is consistent with this Alice but the 1900 census record is consistent with the other... and whereas date are often given and written in error, I would go with the Alpheus name for our Alice Cox.

The 1860 Federal Census for Moyock Township,Currituck Co., North Carolina, records W. C. (50 - NC) and Elizabeth (40 - NC) with children Apheus (23 - NC), Sarah J. (20 - NC), Elijah (18 - NC), Elizabeth (13 - NC), Alice (10 - NC), David (8 - NC), Alec (3 - NC), and Eleanor (9/12 - NC). W. C. is a farmer with real estate valued at $1,600 and a personal estate valued at $1,500 including 3 slaves.

The 1870 Federal Census for Moyock Township,Currituck Co., North Carolina, Powell's Point P. O., page 259B, dated Sept 18, 1870 records William (60 - NC) and Elizabeth (52 - NC) Cox with children Elizah (28 - NC), Allice (19 - NC), David (17 - NC). William is a farmer with real estate valued at $1,000 and a personal estate valued at $300.
