Elinor Hall Haynie, 101, of Reedville, Virginia died December 13, 2012. She was born on June 11, 1911 on the family farm at Bluff Point on Jarvis Creek and was the daughter of the late Richard Henry Dulany Hall and Gertrude Clagett Hall. After graduating from Bluff Point School and Kilmarnock High School at age 14, she attended Blackstone College and graduated from William and Mary in 1930. Upon graduation, she moved to Reedville to teach English and history and met her husband, Henry Urban Haynie, whom she married in 1934. She was a devoted wife until his death in 2000. Mrs. Haynie was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church, helping with bazaars and church dinners until her nineties. In 1958, she returned to teaching social studies at Lancaster High School and retired in 1973. After retirement, she was a volunteer at Rappahannock General Hospital. She dearly loved her family, church, Reedville, and the Northern Neck. Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn H. Haynie of Ashburn, Va. and Jean H. Hagen and husband, C. Garland Hagen of Kilmarnock; two grandsons and their wives, Cary and Meredith Hagen of Virginia Beach and Chris and Diane Hagen of Richmond and four great-grandchildren, Drew and Ben Hagen of Virginia Beach and Paul and Sarah Hagen of Richmond. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m. Monday, December 17 at Bethany United Methodist Church, Reedville. Interment will follow at Roseland Cemetery, Reedville.
