Notes from Clara Garrett Fountain in Oct. 2003 indicate:" Jim Hagood reared Caledonia Coleman. Taylor Hagood reared Nannie and Jeff Coleman and Dr. Raine reared George Coleman." It should be noted that George Anderson Coleman later married Catherine Troxler and named their first born daughter Anne Raine Coleman.

The 1910 Federal Census for Boone Station, Alamance Co., N.C., District 4, page 34A, dated April 21, 1910 records Geo A. (45) and Cathern M. (42) Colemand (sic) with children Annie (18), Eddie R. (16), and infant daughter (5/12). George and Catherine have been married for 23 years and have had 6 children of which 3 are still living. The census records indicate George, Annie, and Eddie are working in a cotton mill.

The 1920 Federal Census for Boone Station, Alamance Co., N.C., District 4, page 53A, dated March 20, 1920 records George (56) and Catherine (53) Coleman with daughters Annie (29) and Myrtle (22), and son Eddie (26). Catherine is listed as blind. The census records indicate George working in a cotton mill. [Myrtle's age is incorrect.]


In the 1930 Federal Census, George (66) and Catherine T. (64) Coleman are living with daughter Annie R. (37) in Boone Station, Alamance Co., N.C. (District 5). Next door to them is son Eddie Coleman (35) with wife Flossie P. (25) and children Elsie (6) and Carleen (4 2/12). George and Catherine have been married 41 years while Eddie and Flossie for 8 years. Eddie is a twister in a cotton mill. Both families rent their homes.
