bullet  General Notes:

Enoch Hagen (33) is listed in the 1850 Federal Census living next to Davis Hagen, however, there is no other evidence in census records that they are brothers other than earlier census records that indicate John had five sons. In 1850, living with Enoch, is Catherine Hagen (39) and Mary Ann Hagen (6). Catherine is probably the daughter of John and Martha Hagen and could be the Mary Hagen [thus her full name would be Mary Catherine Hagen] listed with her brother, Joshua, in later census records ... see below.

A copy of a page from the Hagen Family Bible in the possession of John Wesley Hagen (of Parkesburg, Chester Co., PA April 2008) records the birth of Mary Hagen as December 11, 1811.

A copy of a page from the Hagen Family Bible in the possession of John Wesley Hagen (of Parkesburg, Chester Co., PA April 2008) records "Mary Hagan departed this life December 12, 1892 Aged 81 years 1 day".

The 1870 and 1880 Federal Census for Martic Township records Mary Hagen (68 - born 1812) living with her brother Joshua (77 - born 1803). Joshua's niece, Kate Hagen (36), is also in the household. Kate is the daughter of Elijah Hagen and she continues to live in the Martic area until her death Jan. 11, 1940 at the age of 94 years, 2 months and 21 days.

See general notes on her brother Joshua for 1880 census facts and burial records.

Mary Hagen is buried at the cemetery at Mount Nebo Preysyterian Church in what was called Clark's Family Burying Ground before the church was built. This is most likely where John Hagen and his son George are buried. Several of Mary's siblings, nieces, and nephews are buried there as well. The church was built in 1855 and was torn down ca 1990. As of 2008 the borders and headstones are still visible at the graveyard along West View Rd near Mt. Nebo.
