bullet  General Notes:

A copy of a page from the Hagen Family Bible in the possession of John Wesley Hagen (of Parkesburg, Chester Co., PA April 2008) records the birth of Enoch Hagen as September 27, 1816.

A copy of a page from the Hagen Family Bible in the possession of John Wesley Hagen (of Parkesburg, Chester Co., PA April 2008) records "Enoch Hagen departed this Life November 10, 1860 Aged 44".

Enoch is living with his mother, Martha, in the 1830 census and with his brother, Davis, in the 1840 census.

The 1850 Federal Census for Martic Township, Lancaster Co., PA, page 129B/130A, dated Sept 21, 1850 records Enoch Hagan (sic) (33 - PA) living next to his brother, Davis Hagen, and his family. Living with Enoch is Catherine Hagen (39 - PA) and Mary Ann Hagen (6 - PA) [This could be the daughter of George and Barbara Hagen]. Also in the household are Eliza (12 - PA) and Peter (9 - PA) Warfel. Very nearby in the census record are Enoch's brothers: Elijah Hagen (page 129B) and Joshua Hagen (page 130B).

The 1860 Federal Census for Lancaster City, South West Ward, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania, page 667, dated July 11, 1860 records Enoch Hagan (sic) (43 - PA) living in Lancaster City, PA with Charity (30 - PA) and Elmira Hagan (7 - PA). Of course, according to the bible records, Enoch died on Nov. 10, 1860. In both the 1850 & 1860 census, Enoch is listed as a laborer and appears to have had no interest in following in the blacksmith / axe maker tradition.

The 1870 Federal Census for Lamar Co., Texas (Beat 3, page 316B) records a Charity Hagan (40 - Alabama) with son William H. (10 - Texas). This may be the above Charity Hagan listed in the 1860 census, however, there is a Charity Hogon (30 - Alabama) listed in the 1860 Federal Census for Collin Co., Texas (Percinct 6, page 75B) with a son, William (9 - Texas). I have found no other evidence of Charity nor Elmira Hagen.
