The 1860 Federal Census for Henry Co., Virginia, Leatherwood P. O., page 30 records Mike Lawrence (30) with his wife Clara (30) and their children Rainey (3), Mary (2), and Alice (1). Living next door on one side is Mike's sister, Missouri Woodall (35), (indexed as Messinie Woodall) with her children Sally (7) and Saml (5). On the other side of Mike are his parents, Henry and Gilly Lawrence and children.

The 1880 Federal Census for the Leatherwood District, Henry Co., Virginia, District 129, page 76B, dated June 25, 1880 records Meredith C. Lawrence (50) with wife Clara A. E. (49) and children Henry J. (19), Anna E. (17), Fanny (15), G. Ellen (13), John E. (10), William M. (7) and Walter A. (5). Living nearby is his brother Samuel Lawrence and family.

Meredith married Clara A. Fuller on 21 Nov 1855 in Reverend Silas Minter. (Clara A. Fuller was born about 1830 and died after 1910.)
