Henry Lawrence ¹¹²

  General Notes:

Henry enlisted as a Private in Company D, 24th Infantry Regiment Virginia on 11 June 1861. Henry was wounded on 29 August 1862 at 2nd Manassas, VA. He died of wounds on 03 September 1863.
Jubal A. Early was the early-war Field Commander of the 24th Virginia, but by the time the Regiment finally got into the heat of battle, Early had been promoted to Brigadier General and he was replaced as Regimental Commander by William R. Terry. Company D was named the "Early Guards" and was captained by Thomas S. Taylor. Henry County's "Henry Guards" comprised Company H and was captained by Dr. Peter R. Reamy.
