The 1900 Federal Census for Philadelphia, Ward 34, Philadelphia Co., Pennsylvania, sheet 22B / page 66B, Enumeration District 899, dated June 13, 1900 records Julia Wetzel (Oct 1897) living with her parents David (March 1867 - Germany/Germany/Germany) and Julia (August 1872 - Germany/Germany/Germany) Wetzel and brothers David G. (April 1894) and Adolph (Sept 1895) at 5620 Vine Street. David is a Harness Maker.

After their father's death, Julia and George Wetzel were placed in The Home for Orphans of Odd Fellows. Their brother, Gus, was placed in Gerard College for Fatherless Boys.

The 1910 Federal Census for 38-Ward, Philadelphia, Pa, (ED#942, Page: 202A) records Julia L Wetzel, age 12, living at The Home for Orphans of Odd Fellows at 20th and Ontario Streets.

Julia married Samuel Nicholas Garren Hagen, son of William Grant Hagen and Ida B. Garren, about 1918 in Philadelphia, PA. (Samuel Nicholas Garren Hagen was born on 25 Apr 1896 in Philadelphia, PA, died on 3 Apr 1988 in Ormond Beach, Volusia Co., Florida and was buried in Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Broomall, Delaware Co., PA.)
