Samuel N. Garren served in Co. I, 25th Pennsylavania Infantry and then Co. I and D of the 104th Pennsylvania Infantry. He enlisted as a private in the 25th on April 28, 1861. He joined the 104th as a sergeant on Dec. 7, 1861. He transferred to Co. D as a full Lieutenant, 1st Class on Dec 17, 1864. He was promoted to full Captain on April 1, 1865. He is discharged on July 15, 1865. He applied for an invalid pension on March 21, 1892. His wife, Sarah, applies for a widow's pension in 1905. His record indicates that he was a brick maker born in Philadelphia. He was 5' 7 1/2" with a light complexion, brown hair, and hazel eyes.

The 1900 Federal Census for Middletown (Langhorne Borough), Bucks Co., Pennsylvania, District 23, page 120A records Samuel (Jan 1836 - PA/PA/PA) and Sarah (Jan 1833 - PA/PA/PA) Garron (sic). They have been married for 40 years and have had 7 children of which 4 are still living. Samuel is a Foreman.

An 1890 Philadelphia City Directory lists Samuel N. Garren as a brick maker at 2836 Ridge Ave.

The 1880 Federal Census for Philadelphia (ED# 640, page 396A) records Samid [Samuel] (43 - Philadelphia/Philadelphia/NJ) and his wife Sarah (46 - PA/Philadelphia/Philadelphia) Garren at 2210 Turner Street. Children living there include: Lizzie Garren (19 - Philadelphia), Ida Garren (11 - Philadelphia), Joseph Garren (9 - PA/Philadelphia/Philadelphia), and Samuel (7 - PA/Philadelphia/Philadelphia). This census records both Samid and his father as being born in Philadelphia while Samid's mother in New Jersey. Samid is employed as a furniture maker.

The 1870 Federal Census for Philadelphia (ED# 67, page 582) records Samuel (33), working in a brick yard, and Sarah (35) Garron with children: Elizabeth (10), Adelia (4), and Ida Garron (2). (indexed as Garrow at ancestry.com)

The 1860 Federal Census for Doylestown, Bucks Co., Pa. (page 334) records Samuel (24), working as a brick maker, and Sarah (26) Garren with son Jacob (2). Jacob does not appear in the 1870 census.

The 1860 Doylestown, Bucks Co., PA (page 336) records Jacob Henry (63) Brickmaker, Margaret Henry (52), Margaret Henry (28), Sarah Henry (26), Thomas Henry (22), Jacob Henry (20), Emma Henry (17), Peter Henry (15), Amanda Henry (13), Willie Henry (10). Jacob has real estate valued at $5,000 and a personal estate valued at $300. This is Samuel Garren's father-in-law and family.

The 1850 Federal Census for Philadelphia (unincorporated Northern Liberties, page 473A, B) records Samuel Garren (13-PA) living with his parents William (60 - Farmer - PA) and Ann (50 - PA) Garren and sister Sarah Garren (15 - PA).

The 1850 Doylestown, Bucks Co., PA (page334B/335A) records Jacob Henry (52) and his wife Margaret (41) with their childre Sarah (16), Charlotte (14), Thomas (11), Jacob (8), Emma (6), Peter (4), and Wilhemina (1). Jacob is a Brickmaker.

:

May 5, 1898 Langhorne: "On Monday afternoon, the twenty-four employees of the Langhorne brickard, under the leadership of Capt. Samuel Garron, raised a 76-foot pole and swung to the breeze a flag 8x12 feet."

June 4, 1903 Langhorne:
"Samuel Garron has been appointed as constable and police for the borough at a salary of $150 per annum."

Dec 3, 1903 Attleboro-Langhorne:
"Joseph Garron is moving in the property at the corner of Bellevue and Crescent avenues."

Mar 8, 1906 Bristol Common Pleas Court: "Family troubles of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Garron, of Bristol, were aired when the former was arraigned on a charge of assault and battery preferred by his wife. He was found not guilty and the costs were divided between the two."

Nov 12, 1909 Langhorne:
"Mrs. Samuel Garron, Sr., had a stroke of paralysis on Monday night."

Dec 10, 1909 Langhorne: "The sale of household goods of the late Sara Garron was held on December 9th."

Feb 11, 1910 Langhorne:
"At the sale on Monday of real estate of the late Sara Garron by J.B.Stackhouse and Alfred Wildman, executors, the double house was purchased by Samuel Garron for $1200, the single house and lot by Joseph Garron for $1670."
