This is William G. Hagen's future wife, as confirmed by a June 2004 email from Jane Hagen Craig, grand daughter of Ida Garren Hagen. Ida does have a younger brother named Samuel (age 7) and other siblings: Lizzie (age 19) and Joseph (age 9).
See general notes on her husband, William Grant Hagen, for facts in the year 1900.
By 1910 it appears that Ida has remarried to a Myers: The 1910 Federal Census for Philadelphia, Ward 44, ED#1112, page 238A taken May 12, 1910 records Ida B. Myers (40) with son Thomas J. Myers (10/12) and daughter Sarah G. Hagen (16) living at 876 [North] June Street. Ida is a cook in a restaurant and is listed as having had 6 children of which 4 are still alive (Sarah, Samuel, and Edith Hagen, and Thomas Myers). Sarah is a Nurse for a Private Family. Ida is in a second marriage that has just occured although no husband is listed. At this time, Samuel and Edith are in an Orphanage (see notes on Ida's son, Samuel, as well as notes for Ida's daughter, Sarah.).
The 1930 Federal Census for Philadelphia, PA (ED# 934, page 208A) records the widow Ida B. Myers (59) and son Thomas J. Hagan (20) renting at 2535 Gaul Street. Thomas is actually a "Myers". Ida's first husband was a Hagen and there was most likely a mix up by the census taker in the recording of the facts. Thomas is employed as a baseball manufacturer stamper.
