Romaine D. Bates, 87, of 502 W. Elmwood Ave., Mechanicsburg, died yesterday in Harrisburg Hospital.
She was retired from the Mechanicsburg School District, and a member of First United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg, and its John Kline Sunday School Class.
Surviving are three brothers, Herman Kile of Mechanicsburg, Edwin Kile of Camp Hill, and Elmer Kile of Somersworth, N.H.; two sisters, Edna Ramp of Thompsontown, and Katherine Adams of Mechanicsburg; a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Myers Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. Burial will be in Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to her church, Mechanicsburg 17055.


Romaine married Elmer Ellsworth Bates, son of George Samuel Bates and Lucy A. Conrad, about 1921 in Mechanicsburg, Cumberland Co., PA. (Elmer Ellsworth Bates was born on 16 Feb 1900 in Silver Spring, Cumberland Co., PA, died on 15 Nov 1952 in Cumberland Co., PA. and was buried on 19 Nov 1952 in Mechanicsburg Cemetery, Mechanicsburg, PA.
