Jacob K. Daughtry is listed as a private in Co. F in the 1st Georgia Infantry (Villepigue's 36th Georgia). He enlisted April 11, 1861 and mustered out April 11, 1862. His unit fought at Shiloh on April 6, 1862.
[36th (Villepigue's) Infantry Regiment (also called the Georgia and Mississippi Regiment of Infantry) was formed in November, 1861, from the 1st Georgia Infantry Battalion. During January, 1862, it became the 1st Confederate Infantry Regiment. Colonel John B. Vilepigue, Lieutenant Colonel George A. Smith, and Major William S. Lovell were in command.]


The 1860 Federal Census for the City of Augusta, Richmond Co., GA records "Gemmima" (age 54), Jacob (28 - VA), and Sarah (20 - GA) Dortery (sic). Jacob is a Cabinet Maker and Sarah is a Dress Maker. The father, Richard, is not listed [he has died]; however, next door is J. I. (42 - Lower Canada) and Pennesia (47 - VA) Lausey (sic) [Losey]. Pennesia [Appenine Daughtrey] is Jacob's father's sister.

The 1870 Federal Census for Brunswick, Glynn Co., Georgia lists Jacob Dougherty (36 - Carpenter). Jemima is no where around. (she died in 1868)
