  General Notes:

According to Evelyn Hagen Mabie in a reunion with her nephew Bolling Hagen September 18, 2003 in Richmond, Va., the Custis Mabie family was living in the Church Hill area of Richmond, Va. as neighbors to Alvah and his children, Evelyn and Betty. This is where Evelyn and Custis met and decided to marry, have children, and spend their lives together.

Evelyn gave the names of her mother, Alta Grace Keil (Kyle), to three of her children: Margaret Grace, Harry Kyle, and Alta Jane.

Evelyn Hagen Mabie, 74, of Richmond, formerly of Tappahannock, died Saturday, December 3, 2005. She was the widow of Custis P. "Junnie" Mabie. She is survived by her four children, Margaret M. Floyd of Glen Allen, Alta M. Smitherman of Hanover, Richard Eugene Mabie of Front Royal and Harry Kyle Mabie Sr. of Carson; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the graveside in Essex Cemetery, Thursday, December 8 at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements by Marks-Bristow Funeral Home, Tappahannock.
