I was told that Lewis and Helen had a son but that he grew apart and estranged from his parents and they lost contact with each other ... however, my research indicates that Helen had a son, Robert Eugene Walthall, not with Lewis Whittaker but with her first husband, Charles Linwood Walthall.

The 1930 United States Census for Virginia, Chesterfield Co., Manchester, District 19, page 138A, dated April 16, 1930 records Charles L. (29 - VA/VA/VA) and Hellin (24 - VA/VA/VA) with thier son Robert E. (4 8/12) living with Charles' parents Charles E. (55) and Emma (51) Walthall on Stop 10 of Columbia Street. Charles L. is a Teller at a Bank and Hellen is a Cashier at a Grocery Store while Charles E. is a Clerk at a Grocery Store. Charles and Helen have been amrried for 5 years while Charles and Emma for 33 years.
