Whiteman
Funeral services for Gary W. Whiteman, 20, 85 Lawrence Road, Marple, were 2 p. m. today at the Donald A. Gibson Funeral Home, Lawrence and Sproul Roads, Marple. Burial was in Glenwood Memorial P a r k, Marple.
Mr. Whiteman, son of Edward and Jean Hagen Whiteman, died Monday at his home. A victim of muscular dystrophy since he was 5-years-old, he was watching the Jerry Lewis Telethon when his death occurred.
Born in Bryn Mawr, he grew up in Broomall; attended Old Forge School in Middletown, and graduated, in June, 1970, from Marple Newtown High School.
Thirteen poems written by him were published in the County Leader, a Newtown weekly publication.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Gail, at home, and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Hagen of Manoa, Haverford Township.
