bullet  General Notes:

Note: The 1850 Federal Census for East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, PA, page 337A, dated Aug 22, 1850 records William Rannels (21 - PA) living with the family of Henry Roads (36). Henry is employed as a Cabinet Maker as is William. Henry's family includes Henry (36), Harriet (30), William (12), Sarah Ann (9), and Abraham (6). Also in the household is another Cabinet Maker [apprentice], Jacob Ruth. Interesting to note that William's 1914 death certificate (see medical notes), names his mother as Susan Rhoads ... thus perhaps Henry is William's cousin.

See general notes on his father for 1860 census facts.

The 1870 Federal Census for Upper Leacock, Lancaster Co., PA, Leacock P. O., page 117 records William's name as Reynolds while the 1880 has him as Rannels living in the Manheim Borough of Lancaster Co. 1870: William Reynolds (40) with his wife Eliza (41) and children Emma (14), George F. (10), Ella S. (7), and Ada S. (7). Next door is Jacob (62) and Mary (55) Becher with daughter Amanda (12) ... this is likely the family of Emma Becher, recently married to William's Reynolds nephew, Sylvestor Rannels. William has personal property valued at $400 and Jacob at $800. William is a carpenter while Jacob is a Shoemaker.

The 1880 Federal Census for Manheim Township, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania, ED# 131, records William (50 - PA/PA/PA) and Eliza (51 - PA/PA/PA) Rannels with children George (20), Ella S. (17), and Ada S. (17). Next door is William's brother, John, and his wife Elizabeth. John is employed as a Dry Goods Merchant while William is a Carpenter.

The 1900 Federal Census for the Manheim Borough, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania, ED# 81, page 76A, dated June 4, 1900 records William (70 - Oct 1829 / Carpenter - PA/PA/PA) and Eliza (71 - Sept 1828 - PA/PA/PA) Rannels living in the household of their daughter Ada (36 - June 1836 - PA/PA/PA) and her husband John (40 - April 1860 - PA/PA/PA) Shelly on South Charlotte Street. John and Ada have children Alvin R. (16 - Sept 1883 / Carpenter Apprentice) and Edna M. (14 - Nov 1885) Shelly. William and Eliza have been married 45 years and have had 4 children all of whom are still living; while John and Ada have been married for 18 years and have had 2 children bothl of whom are still living.

In 1910 William is a widower living with his daughter, Ada, and her family. See general notes on Ada Rannels
