The 1850 Federal Census for Perry Township, Lawrence Co., Ohio records Jonathan (78 - Vermont) and Anna (74 - Vermont) Melvin with a house hold full of children: Elias Markins (28 - Ohio) and Henry [Hepsey] Markins (28 - Ohio) [Melvin] Markins, Anna (12 - Ohio) and Jonathan M. (10 - Ohio) Melvin, and Alex Markins (5 - Ohio), Mary B. Larkins (3 - Ohio), and Randal Markins (4/12 - Ohio), although the census clearly writes "Mary B. Larkins" while the other 2 are "Markins". Apparently Elias Markins married Hepsy Melvin.
Jonathan married Anna (Nancy Ann) Broome. (Anna (Nancy Ann) Broome was born about 1776 in Vermont and died about 1865 in Perry Township, Lawrence Co., Ohio.)
