ROBERTS Udell - E. Roberts, 91, went to be with the Lord on December 19, 2004, following a stroke. Proud to be a "Buckeye," he was born in Ironton, Ohio, on September 12, 1913. His family moved to Jacksonville shortly after, and he grew up in the Westside, served as a youth leader at Woodstock Park Baptist Church, and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1932. On an interesting note, his mother named him Udell after a popular novel of the time, The Printer of Udell's, by Harold Bell Wright. Udell was a member of Southside Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Grace Connors Roberts, who passed away four years ago this month. He was also preceded in death by their oldest child, Udell E. Roberts, Jr., an engineering draftsman for Boeing and an awardwinning wildlife artist. Survivors include daughter Rebecca Roberts Woods (husband Don) of Lakeland, FL, a public school administrator and educator in Polk County for 40 years; son Rev. Terry Roberts (wife Sandra) of Columbia, SC, a pastor and presbyter of the Assemblies of God denomination; daughter Kristy Roberts Dykes (husband Rev. Milton) of Jacksonville, FL, an awardwinning author and speaker, two sisterinlaw Rev. Christine Peek and Josephine Colvin; five grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren, and nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends at a VISITATION for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Southside Assembly of God, 2118 Kings Avenue in San Marco. The FUNERAL will immediately follow at 2 p.m. at Southside Assembly of God with Rev. Terry Roberts and Rev. Milton Dykes officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery. Eternity Funeral Home, 1650 Art Museum Drive, Jacksonville in care of service. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com
