The 1930 Federal Census for New Bethel Township, Rockingham Co., North Carolina, District 17, page 257B records John B. Sharpe (54-NC/NC/NC) with his wife Nannie B. (55-NC/NC/NC) and children Francis B. (24), J. B. Jr. (22), G. Holmes (20), B. Frank (18), A. Gilbert (16), and Houston P. (13). Also in the household is a boarder, D. Newton Sharp (20). John and Nannie have been married for 30 years. Francis is a school teacher and Holmes is a truck driver. All others work at the farm. Nearby are 2 brothers and his mother.
