The 1880 Federal Census for Marion Township, McDowell Co., NC, District 132, page 371A, dated June 10, 1880 records Alberto (35 - NC/NC/NC) [actually born ca 1840] and Malinda (30 - NC/NC/NC) Jarrett with daughter Sarah E. Jarrett (5/12 - Dec). Alberto is a farm laborer. This is the family of the future Sallie Jarrett Garrett. The 1900 census (see general notes on her husband, Joseph Walton Garrett) records her date of birth as Dec 1879 which is consistent with the 1880 census record.
