Mrs. Christine Inman Wood, 91 of 777 Clearview Drive Danville, died Monday October 11, 2010 at her residence.
Born Dec. 22, 1918, in Pittsylvania County Va. , she was the daughter of the late Fletcher Harrison Inman and the late Mattie Love Hudson Inman.
She was married to the late Joseph Samuel Wood, who predeceased her in death.
She was of the Methodist faith.
Before her retirement, she and her husband were the owner/operators of the Wood Dairy.
Mrs. Wood is survived by three daughters, Dorothy Wood Jones and her husband Nat, Caroline Wood Rakes and her husband Carlton, and Donna Wood Burke and her husband Ronald, all of Danville. One son, Ray Wood and his wife Elaine of Danville.
Three Sisters, Nell Terry of Danville, Lois Gregory of Providence N.C. and Anita Hopkins of Lexington N.C.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Ken Wood, Tina Wood Keith Jones Lea Anne Jones Powell, Rocky Rakes, Tammy Rakes Mills, Scott Burke, and Debbie Burke Taylor. Also 12 Great-Grandchildren, and 5 Step-Great-Grandchildren.
In addition to her mother and father, she was predeceased in death by twin infant sons, one sister Jessie Minter and two brothers Harry Inman and Guy Inman. Also one Step-Grandchild, Joel Jones.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wood will be conducted at Norris Funeral Services West End Chapel, Thursday October 14, 2010, at 3:00 P.M.with the Rev. Daryl Joyce officiating.
The Family will receive friends from 1:30 P.M. until 2:30 P.M. prior to the service at Norris Funeral Services West End Chapel.
Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
At other times the family will be at the residence 777 Clearview Drive.
In Lieu of flowers the family respectfully request that memorial contributions be made to the Mount Cross Fire and Rescue 4812 Mount Cross Road, Danville, Va. 24541 or Tunstall Fire and Rescue 740 Tunstall High School Road, Dry Fork, Va. 24549.
