bullet  General Notes:

Agnes apparently remained single her entire life.

The 1900 Federal Census for Philadelphia Ward 25, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (ED# 609, Page 5A/222A) records Agnes A. Hagen (Nov 1853) living with her sister's family, David (36 - Sept 1863) and Mary A. (36 - Nov 1863) [Hagen] Lennox with children Anna R. (12), Charles D. (9), and Edwin S. (6) Lennox at 2055 Orleans Street.

The 1910 Federal Census for Philadelphia, Pa., 29th Ward (ED# 679, visit 128, page 47A) records Mary A. Lenox (46) with children Charles and Edwin. Living in the same household is her sister Agnes A. Hagen (57 - PA/PA/Maryland) at 1718 Taney Street and she states her occupation as a nurse.

The 1920 Federal Census for Philadelphia, Pa., 25th Ward (ED# 788, visit 49, page 260A) records an A. Anna Hagen (67 - single / companion) living with the following family: Sahara [Sarah] Pretty (67 - f / single) and a sister Ester Tongue (49 - widow) and her children J. George (29), R. Henry (26), and A Sahara (20) at 3117 Emerald Street. This is most likely our Agnes in that the census record lists that she and her father are born in PA while her mother is born in Maryland.

A telephone call on July 18, 2006 to Harleigh Cemetery, 1640 Haddon Ave., Camden, NJ 08103 (856-963-0122) determined the burials in the Haddon Section, Lot 167 for the following family members: Charles L. Hagen (July 9, 1912), Annie M. Hagen (July 5, 1941), Mary Elizabeth Hagen (Nov. 13, 1974), Annie R. Hagen (April 25, 1896), and Annie A. [Agnes] Hagen (July 23, 1925). There was a description of a large monument at the grave site but no record of Levi. [The dates given are dates for the burials] Michele and Gloria at Harleigh were helpful. Frederick Charles Belcher, a cousin of this researcher's wife, went to Harleigh Cemetery and took many pictures of the Hagen Plot.
