Cause of his death was Abscises of Brain / Osteomyelitis of femur *. General Notes: Alvah Jr.'s brother, Paul, told of how his brother stepped on something while playing in Falling Creek (Chesterfield Co., VA). He got an infection and had to be taken to the hospital where he died. Little Alvah Charles Hagen, Jr. was buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Richmond, Va. in June 1923. The cemetery is located at 3101 Nine Mile Road and is the final resting place for some 17,000 confederate soldiers. The second child of Alvah and Alta is buried in the "Stranger's Section", Row 12, Grave 27. After contacting the cemetery in 2003, I was told individuals buried in that section may or may not have markers and that no map exists to determine where a grave is located. Notes for little Alvah at the Cemetery Office record that he died at Dooley Hospital and arrangments were carried out by Phaup's Funeral Home. Dooley Hopspital was developed through the efforts of James and Sallie Dooley of Maymont, Richmond, Va. in 1919. Medical Notes: Virginia, Death Records, 1912-2014 |
