LAURINBURG -- Dr. John Patrick Daughtrey, 78, of 516 Prince St. died Wednesday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
Mr. Daughtrey was dean of Presbyterian Junior College in Maxton and retired as chairman of the education department at St. Andrews Presbyterian College. He was deacon, a choir member and Sunday school teacher for First Baptist Church. Mr. Daughtrey was state director for the International Future Solving Problem Forum in North Carolina and South Carolina.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church by the Revs. Lamar Brooks and Lawrence B. Coleman. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park.
Mr. Daughtrey is survived by his wife, Arlethia H. ''Lea'' Daughtrey; two sons, John P. Daughtrey Jr. of Charlotte and James Daughtrey of Boston; and one granddaughter.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
