Ocyola O. Keil
General Notes: Ocyola is listed on a cemetery headstone in Mechanicsburg Cemetery, Mechanicsburg, PA. It is listed as Ocy Keil Jacobs, born 1885. The plot is in Section K, Lot 57, the same as her sister, Sarah Keil Stahl. Her parents are in Section K, Lot 66. There is no date of death listed for Ocy. Perhaps, she is buried elsewhere; however, in a phone conversation with Ocy's niece, Verna Graybill Seeley, in August 2009, this researcher was told that Verna attended Ocy's funeral in Mechanicsburg. Verna went on to tell of a "family story she overheard as a child" that indicated Charlie Jacobs ran around on Ocy and gave her a venereal disease which lead to their separation and divorce. During that time it was said, in Keil family circles, that Charlie "kidnapped" Gladys and kept her from living with her mother ... see notes on Charles P. Jacobs for WWI Draft Registration and 1920 census facts that confirm the separation. Ocyola married Charles Pillsberry Jacobs, son of Oliver C. Jacobs and Annie Catherine Crowley, on 3 Jan 1903 in Mechanicsburg, Cumberland Co., PA. (Charles Pillsberry Jacobs was born on 25 Jan 1880 in Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania, died on 6 Apr 1948 in Greensburg, Westmoreland Co., PA. and was buried on 9 Apr 1948 in St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., PA.) The cause of his death was Cerebral Hemorrhage. Marriage Notes: Marriage record is from the Ophan's Court, [Old] Cumberland County Courthouse in Carlisle, PA [April 2008 visit]. |
