bullet  General Notes:

Ocyola is listed on a cemetery headstone in Mechanicsburg Cemetery, Mechanicsburg, PA. It is listed as Ocy Keil Jacobs, born 1885. The plot is in Section K, Lot 57, the same as her sister, Sarah Keil Stahl. Her parents are in Section K, Lot 66. There is no date of death listed for Ocy. Perhaps, she is buried elsewhere; however, in a phone conversation with Ocy's niece, Verna Graybill Seeley, in August 2009, this researcher was told that Verna attended Ocy's funeral in Mechanicsburg. Verna went on to tell of a "family story she overheard as a child" that indicated Charlie Jacobs ran around on Ocy and gave her a venereal disease which lead to their separation and divorce. During that time it was said, in Keil family circles, that Charlie "kidnapped" Gladys and kept her from living with her mother ... see notes on Charles P. Jacobs for WWI Draft Registration and 1920 census facts that confirm the separation.

The 1930 Federal Census for Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., PA, District 159, dated April 10, 1930, page 88B records Ocy O. Jacobs, 45 years old, listed as a housekeeper for a private family. She is a live-in housekeeper for John S. McClean (40 - PA/North Ireland/North Ireland) on 1170 Morningside Avenue in Pittsburgh and is listed as married at 18. Just the two are living there. Ocy's daughter, Gladys, is married to August Schindler and living in Pittsburgh at this time ... see general notes on August Schindler Jr., Ocy's son-in-law, for 1930 census facts.

The 1940 Federal Census for Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., PA, District 69-329, dated April 10, 1940, page 3630B records Ocyola Jacobs (55 - PA) living with her daughter Gladys Schindler (36 - PA) and her husband August Schindler (42 - PA) and their children Maxine (11 - PA) and August (9) at 7100 Upland Street. August is a Tailor with his own shop.

Ocy lived for many years with her daughter, Gladys, and her husband, August Schindler. The David and Missouri Keil Family Bible records her date of birth as April 23, 1885 and date of death as Feb. 12, 1980.
