A copy of a page from the Hagen Family Bible in the possession of John Wesley Hagen (of Parkesburg, Chester Co., PA April 2008) records the birth of Hannah Hagen as September 4, 1805.

A page from the John & Martha Hagen Family Bible in the possession of John Wesley Hagen (of Parkesburg, Chester Co., PA April 2008) records "Hannah Alexander departed this life March 9, 1888 Aged 84 years". [Original Bible in possession of Wilma Fauth Jones as of Nov 2008]

The obituary for Joshua Hagen records the husband of Hannah (sister of Joshua) to be Thomas Alexander. Thomas and Hannah are buried at Mount Nebo Methodist Church as are several of their children.

Her headstone at Mount Nebo United Methodist Church reads:

At the death of her father, John, Hannah had just recently married. The 1830 census shows her and her family 5 pages over from the Hagen family ... see general notes for Hannah's husband, Thomas Alexander, for 1830 census record.

The 1850 Federal Census for Martic Township, Lancaster Co., PA, page 130B records Hannah [Hagen] Alexander (45) with her husband, Thomas Alexander (50) and children John (20), Elizabeth (24), Esther (16), Mary (15), Elijah (12), Naomi (9), and George (7). Thomas is a farmer and has real estate valued at $750. Next door is Hannah's brother, Joshua Hagen, and her mother, Martha Hagen ... see general notes on Joshua Hagen.

The 1860 Federal Census for Martic Township, Lancaster Co., PA, Mount Nebo P. O., page 528A, dated July 21, 1860 records Hannah [Hagen] Alexander (55) with her husband, Thomas Alexander (61) and children Mary (22), Elijah (21), Neomah (19), and George (17). Also in the household are Jane Stewart (7) and John Morrison (7). Thomas is a farmer and has real estate valued at $1,000 and a personal estate at $300. [Joshua Hagen is now some 17 pages over in the census on page 511B] Next door is Thomas and Hannah's son, John Alexander (29), with his wife Frances (22) and children Wilmer (5), Emmaline (3), and Ida (2/12).

The 1870 Federal Census for Martic Township (District 222), Lancaster Co., PA, Bethesda P. O., page 22A records Hannah [Hagen] Alexander (65) with her husband, Thomas Alexander (70) and children Mary (34), Elijah (31), Naomi (29), and George (27). Thomas is a farmer and has real estate valued at $5,000 and a personal estate at $1,000. Also in the household are John Morrison (17) and Jane Alexander (17) as a farm worker and domestic respectively. These 2 are probably the same ones who appear in the 1860 census record.

The 1880 Federal Census for Martic Township, Lancaster Co., PA, District 169, page 388B records the widow Hannah Alexander (78 - PA/PA/PA - mother) living with her sons, Elijah Alexander (42 - PA/PA/PA) and George Alexander (38 - PA/PA/PA) and grand daughter, Ida Alexander (18) [daughter of Hannah's son, John Alexander]. Just 5 pages over in the census record is her brother, Joshua Hagen.

George and Elijah Alexander remain in Martic Township as farmers after the death of their mother in 1888. George married but Elijah remains single ... see general notes on George Alexander.
