Next door is his brother William and family and nearby are his brothers Meredith and Samuel and their families.

The 1900 Federal Census, Virginia, Henry Co., Leatherwood District, District 52, page 89A records the widow Susan Lawrence (Oct 1835) with grand daughter Sally Garrett (May 1879), great grand daughter Missie J. Garrett (Feb 1900) and grandson in law Samuel E. Garrett (Aug 1872).

Darling married Susan about 1854. (Susan was born about 1832 and died after 1900 in Leatherwood Area of Henry Co., VA..)
