Sally Lawrence Martin appears to have died in childbirth in that the 1850 Henry Co. census records Joseph, Samuel, and Nancy Martin (4 months old) living with grandparents Henry and Gilley Lawrence and then Nancy Martin, age 10, is still living with them in the 1860 census. The 1850 census records Charles F. Martin living without his wife in the housdehold of Orson Martin and in 1860 Joseph and Samuel Martin are living with their father, Charles Martin, and his new wife Elizabeth.

Sarah married Charles Franklin Martin on 9 May 1846 in Henry Co., VA. (Charles Franklin Martin was born on 5 Oct 1806 and died on 2 Sep 1884.)
