The 1930 Federal Census for Boones Mill, Franklin Co., VA, District 9 records Robert H. (44) and Clara E. (28) Terry with children Ellen L. (4) and Duwian P. (2 - daughter). Next door is Clara's father Henry T. Abshire (60) with his wife Bessie (??) with children Dallas J. (22), Jannie L. (7), and Galene (2). Robert is a Blacksmith with a repair shop while Henry is farming.

The WWII Draft Registration Card (for men born on or after April 28, 1877 and on or before February 16, 1897) for Robert Henry Terry dated April 27, 1942 lists his date of birth as Sept 19, 1887 in Henry Co., VA. He is living at a Defense Dormitory in Portsmouth, VA. Apparently his wife, Clara Terry is still in Boones Mill, Franklin Co., VA where his permanent residence is located. He is working for Rust Construction in Norfolk, VA and his physical description is 6' 0", 160 lbs with blue eyes, gray hair and ruddy complexion but has no thumb on his left hand. He signs his card as Robert Henry Terry.

Robert married Clara Abshire. (Clara Abshire was born on 16 Aug 1901 in Henry Co, VA and died in Jan 1988 in Boones Mill, Franklin Co., VA.)
