(48 - Oct 1851) and Anna (38 - July 1861) Garrett with children Alma (14 - Oct 1885), Kate (13 - May 1887), Paul (10 - Oct 1889), Anna (9 - July 1890), Peter (9 - May 1892), Rachel (7 - June1893), Ruth (3 - May 1897), and William (1 - Feb 1899). They have had 9 children of which 8 are still living.

The 1910 Federal Census Salem, Roanoke Co., Va. (ED#136, page 216B) records James P. (58) and Anna (48) Garrett and family living at the corner of Burwell Street and Colorado Street. Children in the household include Kate (22 - School Teacher), Paul (21), Anna May (19), Grady (17), Ratchel (16), Ruth (13), and William (11). The three youngest were born in Virginia while the others in North Carolina. There are 8 of 9 children still living. It is of interest that the 1910 United States Federal Census for Ridgeway, Henry Co., Virginia, District page 173A records James P. Garrett (58 - VA/NC/NC) living near his brother, W. Allan Garrett. James is listed as married for 25 years but has no family listed with him. These are most likely the same individual.
