bullet  General Notes:

An email from Jane Craig dated February 17, 2009:
... Am attaching a photo which I don't think I sent you before of Aunt Mame. The photo was taken in front of my parents' house on Virginia Avenue in Havertown, PA. The school being built in the background leads me to believe it was 1952-53. Also attached is a small obituary of Aunt Mame - don't know the year. On the back it is noted that - in what I believe is my fathers handwriting - Aunt Mame was the sister of William Grant Hagen.

... included with the email is an attachment with a picture of Anna's mother, Mary Ann Hagen Lenox and a copy of her obituary:
Jan 8 [1960] / LENOX, Mary Ann, widow of David Lenox, and mother of Evangelist Anna L. Markley. Relatives and friends invited to services, Monday, 1:30 P.M., A. Mercer Quinby's, 1125 W. Lehigh av, viewing Sunday evening.
No date / year for the picture or obituary is given, however, a note attached to the picture shows "Aunt Mame" and in the background is a car that looks to be a 1949 Dodge.
From this obituary and photograph described above, one can conclude that Anna L. Markley was alive after 1950. Although the year of Anna's death is uncertain, it is obviously after 1950 in that the car in the photograph is a 1949 Dodge and Anna Markley's mother is alive at that time. Thus the obituary is after 1950.
Note: A. Mercer Quinby is an undertaker in the Philadelphia area. He is found in the 1930 census as a 14 year old living with his parents at 1125 W. Lehigh Avenue. His father is a mortician.
