Edwin served in the Navy in WWII ...
There is an Edwin W. Hagen, born 1901 in PA listed in the 1920 Federal Census for Virginia, Norfolk, Tanners Creek, District 143. He is a Seaman 2nd Class. He states his parents are from England so I do not know if this is our Edwin or not ... I do know he was in the Navy as of January 23, 1919 as well as during WWII. A letter from the National Personnel Records Center [Military Records Center / 9700 Page Ave. / St. Louis, Missouri 63132-5100] dated Sept. 18, 2006 supplied the following information on Edwin Hagen:
"Edwin Walter Hagen, III served in the United States Navy from January 23, 1919 to January 22, 1924 and in the United States Naval Reserves from September 2, 1941 to September 17, 1945.
Edwin Walter Hagen, III served in the National Guard of Virginia from July 24, 1934 to July 23, 1937.
Records also indicate he served under the named Edwin Walter Hagen, Jr.
His Rank/Grade at time of discharge on January 23, 1919 (sic) shown in records as: Storekeeper, Third Class/SK3c and Rank/Grade at time of discharge on September 17, 1945 shown in records as: Specialist Shore Patrol Second Class/Sp(S)2c. His Rank/Grade at time of discharge on July 23, 1937 as: Private/E-1."

Edwin married Dorothy Mae Williams on 19 Jun 1931 in Richmond, VA. (Dorothy Mae Williams was born on 28 Dec 1908 in Manchester, Virginia and died in Feb 1991 in Pennsylvania.)
