The 1900 Federal Census for Emporia, Greensville Co., Virginia, District 33, page 92B, dated June 3, 1900 records A. J. Daughtry (May 1870 - VA/VA/VA) boparding at the home of W. B. (May 1853) and Catherine (Jan 1854) Seiler. Also in the home is Alfred's brother, Jake E. Daughtry (Dec 1880).

The World War I Draft Registration Cards list his name as Jake Emmett Daughtrey and his birthdate as Dec 5, 1879. He is working as a Salesman for International Money Machine Company of Reading, PA but his permanent address is Suffolk, VA. His nearest relative is A. J. Daughtrey of Emporia, VA. His physical description is tall and stout with blue eyes and light hair.

The 1930 Federal Census for Big Lick, Roanoke Co., Virginia, District 2, page 48A, dated April 10, 1930 records Jacob E. (50 - VA/VA/VA) and Goldie J.
