  General Notes:

The 1870 Federal Census for Accomack Parish, Accomack Co., Va. (page 61B) records John T. Hill (22) and wife Sarah A. (18) with daughter Welthy (1). One page over in the census records John's parents, Timothy and Zipporah Hill.

The 1900 Federal Census for Chincoteague Island, Accomack Co., Va. (ED#14, page 331A or sheet 24A) records John T. (Feb 1850) and Mary A. (Aug 1852) Hill with children Janie L. (Jan 1880), Donnie O. (Apr 1882), Earl B. (Feb 1887), Bertie C. (Apr 1889), and Lillian (Apr 1892). Even though the 1900 census records the year of birth for John to be 1850, earlier census records are consistent with 1847. John and Sarah are listed as married for 31 years with 11 children of which 8 are still living.

The 1910 Federal Census for Chincoteague, Accomack Co., Va. (ED#4, page 23B) records John T. (64) and Sara A. (60) Hill with daughters Lillian (18) and Ray (7-actually a son). John and Sarah have been married 42 years and are living in Deep Hole Village on Chincoteague Island.

The 1920 Federal Census for Chincoteague, Accomack Co., Va. (ED#4, page 94A) records John T. (73) and Sarah (69) Hill with their son Ray W. (17). Next door is their son and his family: Earl B. (32) and Hallie M. (29) Hill with children LeRoy (10), Naomi (6), and Olive (3 4/12).
