The 1900 U.S. Census for Carroll Township, Perry Co., Pennsylvania, ED# 150, page 49B records Maria Goudy (Oct 1841 - widow) with children Susan S. Goudy (Dec 1876 - widow), Maggie A. (Oct 1881), Pearl (Feb 1884), and grandson Charley Bruner (Oct 1899).

The 1910 Federal Census, Pennsylvania, Perry Co., Carroll Twp, District 126, page 24B records Mariah Goudy (68-widow) living with her daughter Susan (32) and her husband, John W. Hill (34), and their children Charles B. (13), Dortha (3), Marlin J. (4/12). John and Susan have been married for 13 years and have had 3 children. Charles [Bruner] is apparently the son of Susan from a previous marriage or otherwise. See 1920 census notes below as well as notes on her mother and also her uncle, David McCallister, for additional conclusions.

The 1920 Federal Census for Carroll Township, Perry Co., PA, District 135, pages 32B/33A records Susan S. (43) and John H. (45) Hill and children Dorthy (11), Marlin J. (10), and Grace L. (7). Also in the household is "step-son" Charlie M. Bruner (20).

In 1930 Marlin is residing at the Pennsylvania State Lunatic Hospital in Susquehanna Township, Dauphin Co., PA. He is 20 years old and is listed as a Hospital Attendant. Most individuals listed are reported as "Hospital Attendant" thus they are probably "patients" rather than workers or staff. Similarly, Charles M. Bruner (30) and Laverna G. [Grace?] Hill (18) are located on the same page of the census record and in the same building with the same description (1930 Census Enumeration District 102, page 55B).

Susan married John W. Hill circa 1897 in Carlisle, Cumberland Co., PA. (John W. Hill was born circa 1875 in Pennsylvania and died after 1920 in Carroll Township, Perry Co., PA.)
