HAPPINESS To get off to a good start every day try greeting each new morning with a favorite verse from the Bible. "This is the day which the Lord hath made: Let us rejoice and be glad in it!" add book chapter and verse (- Psalm 118:24)
All of us are seeking happiness; although, some of us are not quite sure where to go or what to do to find it. And so, we set out in the pursuit of happiness. Thomas Jefferson, in his Declaration of Independence, guaranteed to all of us the right to "the pursuit of happiness", along with many other rights. But Thomas Jefferson may have unwittingly given many of us the wrong idea. He did not mean if we are not happy at point A, where we are now, we should go along over to point B, or C, or X, Y, or Z in the pursuit of happiness. Mr. Jefferson didn't really mean for us to actually pursue or chase after happiness. He thought we were all smart enough to know that true happiness must be generated from WITHIN ourselves from the love and joy God planted in our hearts and souls when we were born. We should "stay put" in our pursuit; but pursue and create our own happiness within our own hearts and souls. There are many ways to create one's own happiness but one of the best is by sharing, and caring, and lending a helping hand to those who are in need. When we share and give of ourselves to family and friends our happiness will grow and grow. It is like putting money in a savings account in the bank. It will grow and multiply with the interest earned.
When being interviewed by Merv Griffin on television, in answer to Merv's question, "Does money always or usually assure one of happiness?" Mr. and Mrs. Hunt, millionaires from Texas, replied, "No indeed; money, lots of times, can cause much unhappiness. The best recipe for happiness is: 1. Have something to do; 2. Something to hope for, to look forward to, and 3. Someone TO LOVE!
To quote Nathaniel Hawthorne (American author whose literature we all studied in school), "HAPPINESS IS A BUTTERFLY, WHICH WHEN PURSUED, IS ALWAYS JUST BEYOND YOUR GRASP, BUT WHICH, IF YOU WILL SIT DOWN QUIETLY, WILL ALIGHT UPON Y0U."
Prayer: Thank you God for each new day and help us to find joy in living as we share our blessings and give to others; and as we go to bed each night help us to remember that there is a great, big beautiful tomorrow waiting for us at the end of every day!

Regarding an early suitor: Eugene Vincent (Buck) Russell, Jr....sister is Alice ... Chem Prof at VPI&SU ... Buck was a student of Inez' Uncle Carroll Daughtrey in Caroline Co. before going to Tech (Class of 1934) and was mom's boyfriend. While at Tech, Buck made an oak desk for mom and gave her a minature Tech [V. P. I.] ring during his junior year as an engagement committment. A family story is that Paul Hagen had a car and would give Inez a ride to pick up Buck at the train station in downtown Richmond when he came to visit Inez. And ... he who has the car gets the girl!
Mom retired from Secretary to the Dean of English at Virginia Commonwealth University in 1978. Her last day of work was May 15, 1978 as documented by a photograph of her April retirement celebration on which she wrote.
Dr. Charles Elroy Llewelyn was Inez' Doctor and delivered all three of her sons. He was the son of James and Cora Llewellyn of the Tidewater Virginia area. James was a Lighthouse Keeper. Inez had great faith and respect for Dr. Llewellyn and was saddened by his death in a car accident.

Research Notes:
The birth certificate for Inez Wilson Daughtrey records her Daughtrey heritage to be "French, Indian, and English". The English is obvious but the French and Indian is a puzzle. According to name origins from ancestry.com, Daughtry / Daughtrey has its origins from a place reference for the Normans (who invaded England): Hauterive in Orne, France. "Hauterive" in France apparently became "Daughtrey" in England.
