The WWI Draft Registration taken Sept. 12, 1918 for Floyd Monroe Adkins records his date of birth as July 31, 1884. He is living with his wife, Kate, in Callands. His physical description is tall with medium build with blue eyes and light hair. His card is signed F. M. Adkins.

The 1920 Federal Census for Callands, Pittsylvania Co., VA (ED#140, page 69A) records Floyd M. (35) and Maime Kate (30) Adkins with children Carrie Lou (13), Fannie May (10), Robert Monroe (8), Tudor K. (6), Ira Lee (3 11/12), and Beula Boyd (1 1/12). He is farming next door to his parents, Caleb and Seleana E. Adkins.

The 1930 Federal Census for Schoolfield, Tunstall, Pittsylvania Co., VA (ED#31, page 145A), dated April 12, 1930 records Floyd M. (46) and Nannie K. (40) Adkins with children Robert M. (18), Katheline (16), Ira L. (14), Beulah B. (12), Dewey M. (10), and Rita M. (2 0/12) living at 103 Bishop Avenue. Floyd is now employed as a packer at the Cotton Mill. Robert is a weaver at the Silk Mill and Katheline is a litter girl at the Overall Factory. Floyd and Nannie [Kate] have been married for 25 years ... meaning Floyd was married at age 21 and Kate was married at age 15.

Floyd married Katie N. Garrett, daughter of Robert Marion Garrett and Kaziah (Kate) Tabitha Gill, circa 1906 in Pittsylvania Co., VA. (Katie N. Garrett was born on 6 Jan 1890 in Virginia, died on 5 Apr 1933 in Tunstall, Pittsylvania Co., VA and was buried in Lawrence-Adkins Family Cemetery, Pittsylvania Co., VA.)
