General Notes:
See notes on her mother, Christian (Skinner) Harrell for 1870 census facts and census facts for Christian's mother-in-law, Martha Skinner, where Garaphelia is listed as living with her grand mother as well as her mother.
The 1880 Federal Census for Holy Neck District, Nansemond Co., Va., District 54, page 92B records Garrophelia Norfleet (27) and her husband Jno [John] E. Norfleet (41) with children Wm [William] H. (9), Abram T. (7), Robert L. (5), and Mary E. (2). Garrophelia is Christian Doughtie's daughter by William Skinner [Christian has not been found in the 1880 census] ... Also in this household is John's mother, Rachael Norfleet (74). Another fact that supports this to be the daughter Christian Skinner (Harrell Wiggins Doughtie ... ) is that the cemetery at Liberty Springs Christian Church has a plot that contains the remains of a Christian Doughtie and Rachael Norfleet along with a Garophelia S. Norfleet and other family members with appropriate dates of birth ... see notes below.
The 1900 Federal Census for Holy Neck District, Nansemond Co., Va., District 27, page 146A records Garry O. Norfleet (Dec 1841), married to John E. Norfleet (Feb 1838) with children Maude M. (Oct 1880) and Harvey (Sept 1887). "Garry" and John have been married 30 years and have had 7 children of which 3 are still living.

Living in the household is son Harvey E. Norfleet (21 - VA/VA/VA) with wife Mary (18 - VA/VA/VA) and daughter Dorothy (2/12). This is a general farming family.
