Cause of his death was Gastric Carinoma. General Notes: Many Lawrence Co. court records (birth/marriage) have his name as Cornelius but census records from the 1800s record Camilus several times and Cornwallis once. The 1900 census records Cormilus and family living near the John Hill family. (See notes on John Hill whose daughter, Nancy America marries Franklin Melvin, the son of Camilus and Viola.) Medical Notes: Name: Cornullus H. Melvin Camilus married Viola Belle Higgins, daughter of David W. Higgins and Elizabeth Jane Frye, about 1887. (Viola Belle Higgins was born in Jan 1870 in West Virginia, died on 25 Feb 1914 in Perry Township (Ironton Post Office), Lawrence Co., Ohio and was buried in Melvin Cemetery, Coal Grove, Ohio.) The cause of her death was Peritonitis. |
