Also in the household is Harry's brother-in-law, Brandt Hench (11). Harry is a manager of a farm. Note: The WWI Draft Registration Card for Brandt Shoemaker Hench records his date of birth as March 12, 1899. He is employed as a Blacksmith at the New York Ship Building Company in Camden, NJ. His nearest relative is Amanda Hench of Elliottsburg, PA.

The WWI Draft Registration Card for Harry Collin Hogan (sic) records his date of birth as July 28, 1883 and his wife as Ella Jane Hagen. They are living at 449 Manor Street in Lancaster, PA. Harry is employed as a Foreman in a Linoleum Plant and his physical description is medium height and build with gray eyes and mixed hair. His signature reads Harry Collins Hagen.

Hench (13) as a daughter of Scott and Amanda Hench, Ella's parents. [See general notes on Ella Jane Hench]

By 1930, Harry Hagen appears to have divorced Ella and remarried: The 1930 Federal Census for Lancaster City, PA, District 72 taken April 19, 1930 records Harry C. (43) and Marian (37) Hagen living at 450 North Queen Street. Also in the household are Harry's children Collin (4 3/12) and Linda (2 3/12) Hagen [The writing looks like "Linda" but the sex is listed as a son. Later records indicate this is likely to be John L. Hagen ... see research notes for Harry Collins Hagen, Sr.] as well as Marian's children from a previous marriage Everett V. (19), Emma P. (11), William J. (10), and Warren M. (9) Rohrer. Harry is employed as a laborer at the Linoleum Plant. Harry was first married at age 20 while Marion at age 15. All family members and their parents are born in Pennsylvania.

The 1940 Federal Census for Lancaster City, PA, District 36-52, page 914B, dated April 26, 1940 records a divorced Harry C. Hagen Sr. (56 - PA) living with his sister, Margaret B. Published on June 2, 2006, Intelligencer Journal (Lancaster, PA)
Harry C. Hagen, 80, died Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at Lancaster Regional Hospital. He was the loving husband of Yvonne M. (Trimmer) Hagen. Graveside service with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard Monday, June 5, at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Mr. Hagen was born December 23, 1925, in Lancaster, a son of the late William A.* and Myrtle M. (Govka) Hagen. He was an Army veteran, having served at the end of WWII and the beginning of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hagen was a member of West York Church of the Brethren, lifetime member of Lancaster Traffic Club, and an avid golfer. In addition to his wife, Yvonne, Mr. Hagen is survived by three stepsons, Jeffrey Richards of Manchester, Michael Richards of Craley, and Gary Richards of Lancaster; daughter Karen Richards of Lancaster; granddaughter Kay Marie Richards of Lancaster; nine step grandchildren; sister Anna Mae Gohl of Akron, PA; and brother-in-law Jack Trimmer and his wife, Linda of York. [also in the York Daily Record]

*Note: The reference to William A. Hagen as the father of Harry C. Hagen is incorrect. The correct father should be listed as Harry Collins Hagen Sr. Actually, Harry Jr's mother, Myrtle M. (Govka) Hagen, was first married to William Rohrer before her marriage to Harry Hagen Sr and the first names were simply mixed ... see general notes on Myrtle M. Govka.

The above obituary indicates Harry C. Hagen's parents as William A. and Myrtle M. (Govka) Hagen ... however, the 1930 census records Collin Hagen born approx Jan 1926 (see general notes for Harry Collins Hagen Sr) ... also ... that census record lists Harry's step sons as Everett V. (19), Emma P. (11), William J. (10), and Warren M. (9) Rohrer. Then the 1920 census lists Myrtle G. (26 - PA/PA/PA) and William (37 - PA/PA/PA) Rohrer with son Everett V. Rohrer (7) (see general notes for Myrtle (Merian) G. (wife of Harry Collins Hagen). Thus, the above obituary for Harry C. Hagen seems to be THE Harry Collins Hagen, son of Valentine and Rachael Hagen, and the obituary misidentifies Harry's parents ... perhaps the William A. Hagen was from William A. Rohrer? Anyway, further research is needed ... communication with the widow, Yvonne M. Hagen, is needed:
