Carroll was known to the family as Buddy (brother), Uncle Carroll to me. He was named for his mother's brother, Luther Carroll Doughtie. The Carroll name has continued not only with Luther's son, Luther Carroll Doughtie, Jr., but Buddy named his second son Lyman Carroll, Jr. who named his second son Carroll Scott Daughtrey. Also, Uncle Carroll's sister, Inez, named her second son, Carroll Garland Hagen (after her brother [Carroll] and her sister [Garlan]) who then named his first son Carroll Garland Hagen, Jr. (Cary).
