bullet  General Notes:

There is an Annie E. Moore (age 16), daughter of Orris (46) and Martha (43) Moore in the 1870 Federal Census, Va., Southampton Co., Jerusalem. The children of Orris and Martha are taken from this record. The 1880 Federal Census (ED# 33, page 320B) records J. J. Daughtrey (Joseph John) (50) with wife A. E. (30) and children R. T. (4), E. J. (2), amd brother G. W. More (20). These initials refer to Anna Elizabeth, Richard Tazewell, Effie Jane, and George W. Moore.

See notes on daughter Pattie Daughtrey referencing the 1930 census.

It appears that Anna Elizabeth Moore is listed as Anna Edwards in the 1930 Federal Census. Pattie Daughtrey, her daughter, is found in the 1930 Federal Census in the City of Norfolk, VA, District 83 on West 26th Street. She is listed with her husband M. R. Reid and her children Dorothy and Elizabeth. Also listed in this household is the mother-in-law to M. R. Reid, Anna Edwards, as well as the brother-in-law, Romie H. Daughtrey, and nephew Edwin F. Beale. Anna Edwards is actually Anna Elizabeth Moore Daughtrey Edwards ... her husband, Joseph John Daughtrey, died and she remarried. Cicil Pension reocrds indicate she married John Edwards in 1919 and divorced him in 1923 ... see marriage notes for Anna E. Moore.
The 1930 Federal Census for Norfolk, 24th Precinct, Norfolk (Independent City), Virginia, District 83, page 162A, dated April 7, 1930 records Anna Edwards (75) living in the home of her daughter's family: M. R. Reid (45) with his wife Pattie Reid (41) and their children Dorothy (16) and Elizabeth (11) living at 517 West 26th Street. Also in the household are brother-in-law Romie H. Daughtrey (36) and nephew Edwin F. Beale (21). Romie is Anna's son by Joseph John Daughtrey. He is listed as married at age 21 but currently divorced. He is working as a Printer at a Paper Company. Edwin is the son of Anna's sister-in-law (sister of Joseph John Daughtrey) and is working as a Stenographer for a Meat Packing Company. M. R. Reid is Milton Raymond Reid and is married to Ann's daughter. M. R. is a Book Keeper for the Rail Road and Pattie is a Book Keeper for a Drug Store.

Brothers and sister Pattie, Romie, and Hundley Daughtrey are all living within a few blocks of each other in Norfolk, Va. in 1930.

Anna's Certificate of Death (Virginia 1468-25263) lists Annie E. Daughtrey Edwards died Nov 9, 1935 in Norfolk, VA and confirms she married a Mr. Edwards after the death of her first husband, Joseph John Daughtrey.

The 1920 Federal Census for Norfolk Jefferson Ward, Norfolk (Independent City), Virginia, District 87, page 53A, dated January 15, 1920 records Annie E. Edwards (59 - VA/VA/VA) with husband John A. Edwards (55 - VA/NC/NC) and her daughter, Lillian Daughtrey [born with Joseph John Daughtrey]. Also in the household are Lillian's children: Herman (13), Virginia (12), and Marvin (10). It is of interest that these children are also listed in the 1920 Federal Census (see notes on William T. Daughtrey for 1920 census facts) in the household of Lillian's former husband, William T. Daughtrey. Annie, John, and family are living at 240 York Street. John Edwards is a boiler maker at the Navy Yard while Annie is a boarding house keeper.

The 1910 Federal Census for Virginia, Norfolk (Independent City), Norfolk 6th Ward, District 55, page 36A, dated April 25, 1910 records John A. Edwards (43 - NC/NC/NC) married to Martha E. Edwards (39 - VA/VA/VA). They have been married 3 years and this is the second marriage for both. John is a boiler maker while "Martha" is listed as a Seamer at a Knitting Mill. They are living at 526 Fort Street. This is not Anna E. Moore Daughtrey, but a previous marriage. (This record is linked incorrectly at ancestry.com ... as of January 2006 it can be found in the 1910 census records data area of ancestry.com designated Norfolk, Ward 6, District 56, image 4 of 20)
