(Sept 1894), Leora D. (Apr 1896), and Edgar R. (Mar 1897). David is a farmer and has been married for 6 years.

The 1910 Federal Census for Holy Neck District, Nansemond Co., Va. (District 12, page 144A/sheet 4A) records David R. (40) and Ophelia (39) Roberts with children Allie (16), Leora (14), Ray (12), Bertie (10), Raleigh (8), Dosie (6), Mary (4) and David R. Jr. (2). They are living near Lydia's father, Bolden Riddick Doughtie.

Lydia is a widow by 1920. The 1920 Federal Census for Holy Neck District, Nansemond Co., VA (ED# 19, page 198A) records Lydia O. Roberts (45 - widow) with children Ray (21), Bertie (17), Raleigh (15), Dosie (14), Mary (12), David (10), Thelma (4) living on Holy Neck Road.

The 1930 Federal Census for Holy Neck District, Nansemond Co., VA (Dist 8, page 117B, dated April 5, 1930) records Lydia indexed as the widow Ray D. Mrs. Roberts (55 - VA/VA/VA) [Mrs. Ray D. Roberts]. From this and the fact that one of her children is named Ray, one can assume that her husband's full name, listed on many documents as David R. Roberts, is David Raymond Roberts. Also in the household are her children David Roberts (29) and Thelma Roberts (13) as well as her grand children, Virginia Roberts (4 2/12) and Raleigh Roberts (3 3/12). Both David and Thelma are reported as single so it is not sure who are the parents of Virginia and Raleigh.

The 1940 Federal Census for Holy Neck District, Nansemond Co., Va. (Dist 62-13, page 189A, dated April 15, 1940) records the widow Lidia O. Robert (68) living on Route 616. Also in the household are her unmarried son, E. Ray Robert (40) as well as her married daughter Thelma Holland (23) and her daughter Mildred R. Holland (1) and a son-in-law Charlie Holland (26) and a grand daughter, Virginia D. Holland (13). Lidia owns her home valued at $2,000. She has completed 4 years of schooling while Ray has completed 5 years of schooling and Thelma 2 years of high school. Charlie has completed 6 years of schooling and is working as a Mechanic at a Garage [Blair Motor Company]. The 1935 Suffolk City Directory indicates that Charlie and Thelma are husband and wife.
